Ingredients
Scale
For the Dip:
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- ¼ cup honey (adjust to taste)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips or cinnamon for topping
For Serving:
- 4-6 apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
- Lemon juice (to prevent apple browning)
- Optional: pretzels, graham crackers, celery sticks
Instructions
- Soften Cream Cheese: Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature (leave out for 30-60 minutes, or microwave for 10-15 seconds). Soft cream cheese blends smoothly without lumps.
- Beat Cream Cheese: In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese with an electric mixer (or vigorously with a whisk) for 1-2 minutes until light, fluffy, and completely smooth with no lumps.
- Add Peanut Butter: Add peanut butter to the cream cheese. Beat on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until fully combined and creamy. The mixture should be smooth and well-incorporated.
- Add Sweetener: Add honey and vanilla extract (if using). Beat for another minute until everything is evenly mixed and the dip is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Check Consistency: The dip should be thick but scoopable. If too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream to thin slightly. If too thin, refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Transfer to Serving Bowl: Scrape dip into a serving bowl using a rubber spatula. Smooth the top or create decorative swirls. If desired, sprinkle mini chocolate chips or cinnamon on top.
- Prepare Apples: Slice apples into wedges or slices just before serving. To prevent browning, toss with a little lemon juice or store in water with lemon juice until serving.
- Serve: Arrange apple slices around the dip bowl and serve immediately. Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Room temperature cream cheese is essential for smooth, lump-free dip.
- Adjust honey to taste—start with less if you prefer less sweet.
- Natural peanut butter works but may be slightly grainier; stir well before using.
- Dip thickens when refrigerated; let sit at room temperature 10-15 minutes before serving.
- For nut-free version, use sunflower seed butter or soy nut butter.
- Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
