Veggie dip features creamy sour cream and mayonnaise mixed with fresh herbs and savory seasonings. This easy 5-minute dip is perfect for dunking fresh vegetables at any gathering!

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: About 1½ cups (serves 8-12) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dip:

  • 1 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne or hot sauce for heat

For Serving:

  • Assorted fresh vegetables (carrots, celery, bell peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, radishes)
  • Optional: crackers, chips, or pita bread

Instructions

  1. Combine Base Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, combine sour cream and mayonnaise. Stir with a whisk or spoon until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add Fresh Herbs: Add finely chopped fresh dill and parsley to the bowl. Stir to distribute herbs evenly throughout the mixture.
  3. Add Seasonings: Add minced garlic (or garlic powder), onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
  4. Add Optional Ingredients: If using, add Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, or hot sauce. Mix well to incorporate.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste the dip and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more salt for saltiness, garlic for punch, or herbs for freshness.
  6. Chill (Recommended): Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. This step is optional but highly recommended—the dip tastes significantly better after chilling.
  7. Prepare Vegetables: While dip chills, wash and cut fresh vegetables into sticks or bite-sized pieces for dipping.
  8. Serve: Transfer dip to a serving bowl and arrange on a platter surrounded by fresh vegetables. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For best flavor, make dip at least 2 hours ahead (or overnight) to allow flavors to develop and meld.
  • Fresh herbs are strongly preferred over dried for best flavor.
  • Greek yogurt can replace sour cream for tangier, higher-protein version.
  • Dip thickens significantly when refrigerated; let sit at room temperature 10-15 minutes before serving if too thick.
  • Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For lower-calorie version, use light sour cream and light mayo, or replace mayo with additional Greek yogurt.
